Skagit Transit will be operating a shuttle service on Guemes Island to assist residents to and from the passenger ferry. The vehicle ferry is scheduled to be removed from service on Saturday, March 15; the shuttle service will begin one day prior, on Friday, March 14 to assist residents wishing to place vehicles in Anacortes.

Skagit Transit will provide call-in based shuttle service for Guemes Island residents to meet the passenger ferry. To arrange a pickup, call Skagit Transit Dispatch at 360-757-4433, press 2, and ask for Guemes Dispatch. The Dispatcher will relay your information to the driver via radio. Please call at least 1 hour ahead of your requested pickup time. Residents needing a pickup for the first ferry run may call the night before, prior to 7pm Monday through Friday, and before 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The shuttle may not be able to meet all ferry arrivals and departures, so please plan ahead. Skagit Transit will have one bus providing a shuttle service. The driver will deliver all passengers who arrive on the ferry by looping around the island. The driver will return to Anacortes on the 6:15pm ferry.

There is a Skagit Transit bus stop located on Guemes Island near the ferry landing; the bus will be parked there when it is not busy transporting passengers. The driver will take passengers who arrive on the 11:15am ferry to their destinations, then take a lunch break from 11:45am-12:30pm while the ferry is not running. The shuttle will resume service at 12:30 pm and begins its last trip to drop people off at 5:30 pm (M-F) and 5:15 pm (Sa/Su). The shuttle will drive on approved paved roads only and will try to consolidate stops if possible. If you have special needs, please let the driver or Dispatch know.

For passengers wanting to transfer to Route 409, the bus stop is located is 2336 6th Street. Please refer to the schedule in Skagit Transit’s Rider Guide for pickup times. The Anacortes bus service runs Monday-Saturday; there are no local buses running in Anacortes on Sunday.

The bus assigned to Guemes Island is equipped with UMO electronic fare system, and a cash drop box.

The standard fare for the shuttle is $1.00, and $.50 for passengers qualifying for Reduced Fare (Disabled, age 65 or older). Youth (18 and under) ride free on all Skagit Transit buses.
