Updates/New Business:
Schedule visit to island by the health department staff for rainwater catchment:
Meeting scheduled for Friday September 20th. Time of day is still TBD. Purpose is for Health to educate their staff on what people have done that works and benefits of different approaches. Steve, Michael, and Kathy to host. GIPAC to highlight that many systems are set up differently, and highlight our desire to make it more standardized. We would like to better understand how health is involved in the permitting process as well.
Board member recruitment:
Nominations for the board open at today’s meeting. (60 days prior to the annual meeting)
Annual meeting planning:
Aquifer study is still not ready so will not be presenting that.
Highlight transportation, bring back Skagit Transit to present.
Steve to reach out Crystle Stidham at Skagit Transit
Invite Public Works to talk about the Guemes side parking lot.
Michael to reach out to Pub Works.
Potential Annual Meeting dates: Nov 10 or Nov 17.
Ferry:
Possible Mediator: Allen looked into getting a mediator to work with the county and GIPAC to help sort out ferry issues. This could be a good approach, however there are many details to be worked out.
There was a lengthy conversation about ferry replacement funding and what will happen next.
Comprehensive plan lookout:
Steve to talk to Evergreen Islands to see if we can join them in talking about comp plan stuff relevant to Guemes.
