Updates/New Business:
- Crystle and Maleah from Skagit Transit talked to us about the survey results and haulout bus service usage.
- There have been 75 responses to the survey so far, which is considered a good result.
- There have been over 1200 riders in the 6 week period of haul out so far which is also considered a good result.
- The hope is to get at least 75% of that during the pilot.
- They mentioned that this will be the last time Skagit Transit will provide bus service during the haul out because they are getting rid of diesel buses in lieu of propane buses so there will be no way to refuel them.
- SKAT has approval for and will begin a 6 month pilot on Guemes starting right after the haul out. The cost is roughly $250k.
- It is not part of the long range transit plan to continue service on Guemes after the pilot.
- They had several proposed fixed route options for the pilot, and asked for feedback on whether or not a fixed route or on demand service would be best for the pilot?
- There was a conversation about pros and cons, but GIPAC and SKAT landed on the on demand service option since it is what the current haul out service is.
