GIPAC is a 501 (c) (3)

The Guemes Island Planning and Advisory Committee is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

To promote and sustain responsible growth management on Guemes Island consistent with the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan and consistent with the development, through broad public participation and approval by Skagit County, of a sub area plan for Guemes Island.

To promote awareness of the importance of development of a sub area plan for Guemes Island through education of Guemes residents and property owners, decision makers and the general public.

To monitor implementation, updates and proposed changes to the Skagit County Comprehensive Plan as it pertains to Guemes Island and to monitor implementation, updates and proposed changes to a sub area plan for Guemes Island.

To preserve the fragile environment of Guemes Island, including the island’s aquifer, resource lands and critical areas.
